To be in a state of relaxation is the opposite to being in a state of stress:
Our brain is programmed to make decisions similar to what is already in its data
We need to be able to visualise a situation that made us feel uncomfortable, unsafe
etc while in a relaxed state. By doing that, we will then ‘associate’ relaxation
or feeling safe now with the old ‘scary’ situation.
Stress activates the SYMPATHETIC nervous system; it revs up adrenaline and cortisol.
Relaxation activates the PARA-SYMPATHETIC nervous system which releases Endorphins,
the “Feel good” hormones that COUNTERACT the Fight or Flight Response.
